If Chaturbate is asking you to prove you're 18, it's almost certainly because of where you live. A lot of places now require adult sites to actually check that visitors are adults, not just show an "I'm 18" button. In the US that's 27 states and counting.

These are the states with age verification laws for adult websites, with the date each one took effect. The laws cover adult sites in general, so they apply to Chaturbate and its competitors alike.

Is Chaturbate blocked in Ohio or Missouri?
These are two of the most searched questions, and the honest answer is: we found no reliable report that Chaturbate blocks either state. Some big adult sites have pulled out of states rather than add age checks, which is where the confusion comes from.
- Ohio requires a real age check since September 30, 2025. A click-through isn't enough. In October 2025, Ohio's attorney general warned adult sites they could be sued if they don't comply.
- Missouri requires age checks since November 30, 2025.
So in both states, expect to be asked to verify rather than find the site gone.
Outside the US
- United Kingdom: since July 25, 2025, the Online Safety Act has required adult sites to use "highly effective" age checks.
- France: in April 2025, France's media regulator ordered Chaturbate's operator to stop minors reaching the site, saying a simple "I'm an adult" declaration wasn't enough.
How the check works
The exact method depends on the law where you are, so it can look different from state to state. What we could confirm:
- When Texas sued Chaturbate's operator in 2024, the case settled for $675,000, and the operator agreed to use a third-party age verification service. That means the check may be run by a separate verification company, not by Chaturbate's own staff.
- In June 2025, the US Supreme Court upheld Texas' law in Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton, so these checks are here to stay.
Typical checks ask for a photo ID or use another method that confirms you're an adult. Whatever you're shown, read what the verification company says it keeps and for how long before you start.
Keep your ID safe
Age checks are a magnet for scammers, because people expect to be asked for ID. A few rules keep you safe:
- Verify only inside Chaturbate, after you've typed chaturbate.com yourself. A real check never starts from a DM, a Telegram message or an email link.
- Nobody legitimate asks for your ID in chat. Not a performer, not a "moderator", not "support".
- Never pay to get verified. Age checks don't cost money.
