Cam Show Types Explained: Private, Ticket, Group, Spy and Cam2Cam

Public shows are free to watch and paid for by tips. A private show is paid one-on-one time, usually by the minute; an exclusive private means nobody else can join. Ticket and group shows let several viewers pay or pool money for a special show. Spy shows let you peek into someone else's private, and cam2cam means your camera is on too.

Names change from site to site, so we've noted which site uses which name where we've confirmed it on the site's own pages.

Public shows: free to watch

Most big cam sites are built around free public rooms. Anyone can watch and chat, and performers earn from viewers who choose to tip, usually with tokens bought from the site. Tips can unlock goals, trigger games or, in interactive rooms, control a performer's toy.

This is where you'll spend most of your time, and it costs nothing unless you decide to tip. See our free cam sites for the best places to do it.

Private shows: one-on-one

A private show is paid, one-on-one time with a performer, usually charged by the minute.

Notice that on some sites, "private" doesn't mean nobody else is there. If that matters, look for an exclusive option.

Exclusive privates: nobody else can join

An exclusive private is the truly one-on-one version. XLoveCam calls it 100% Xclusive, and it's only available when the performer has turned it on. Exclusive shows usually cost more per minute than a regular private.

Ticket and group shows: pay together

Ticket and group shows let lots of viewers watch a special show for less than a private would cost.

They're a good way to see something special without paying for a private alone.

Spy shows: watching quietly

Some sites let you watch another viewer's private show without taking part, usually for less than a private. XLoveCam offers a version called Sneak Peek: a 20-second look into a private show.

Cam2cam: your camera on too

Cam2cam means both cameras are on, so the performer can see you as well. It's usually part of a paid private show.

Before you turn your camera on, read our cam2cam guide for how to protect your privacy. And never do cam2cam on random video chat apps: nobody checks who's on the other side, including whether they're an adult.

How to choose

  1. Just browsing? Public shows. They're free.
  2. Want something special but cheaper? Ticket, group or spy shows.
  3. Want attention just for you? A private, or an exclusive private for total privacy.
  4. Want a two-way show? Cam2cam, with your face and background out of shot.

Whatever you choose, check the price before it starts and set a budget. Our token calculator shows what a show really costs in dollars.

If you ever see anyone who might be under 18, leave, report it to the site and to NCMEC's CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org.

Questions people ask

What is a private show on a cam site?

Paid one-on-one time with a performer, usually charged by the minute. On some sites other viewers can join or peek in, so check whether it's exclusive if that matters to you.

What is a ticket show?

A special show that viewers pay a set price to watch, usually at a set time. Jerkmate's version, the Gold Show, has members pool money toward a goal, and the show starts when the goal is reached.

On some sites you can pay a lower rate to watch someone else's private show without being part of it. XLoveCam's version, Sneak Peek, gives you a 20-second look.

What is an exclusive show?

A private show nobody else can join or watch. XLoveCam calls it 100% Xclusive, and the performer has to turn it on.

What is cam2cam?

A show where your camera is on as well as the performer's, so they can see you. It's usually part of a paid private show.
